THE TERRACE AT TRUMP EXPANDS, 2012 SEASON BEGINS MAY 16

Sophisticated outdoor oasis goes “so chic” for the summer months

CHICAGO – May 14, 2012 – Trump International Hotel & Tower^® Chicago is pleased to announce that The Terrace at Trump, the downtown hotel's sophisticated outdoor dining venue, will open this Wednesday, May 16. The chic, 16^th floor outdoor oasis – which has become one of the city’s most sought-after summertime destinations since opening in 2009 – showcases unobstructed, picturesque views of the Chicago River and its famed bridges, Wrigley Clock Tower, and Lake Michigan, as well as the summer fireworks displays from Navy Pier.

This season, The Terrace at Trump will increase occupancy by 20 percent, accommodating up to 196 seated guests (32 more than in 2011), and embrace a “So Chic” vibe that presents a sophisticated, lively, approach to the beloved Chicago al fresco experience. This theme will influence all aspects of The Terrace at Trump – from the décor and staff uniforms to the food and beverage program, expertly created by Executive Chef Michael Fiddler and Executive Pastry Chef Sarah Kosikowski.

Guests will be escorted to The Terrace at Trump via the Bridges Room, one of hotel’s intimate dining spaces, from where they encounter a luxurious, serene atmosphere, accented by a contemporary décor scheme that includes beautifully placed up-lighting, fire elements, palm trees, and other lush foliage, with the aroma of fresh herbs, such as lavender. Comfortable, custom-designed lounge, booth, and table seating – designed by Alex Morales of Smartmouth Designs – adorned with vibrant green, blue, yellow, and orange cushions will create an intimate environment to accommodate a range of party sizes. House, Buddha Bar, and soft rock lounge music will fill the air.

For larger groups in need of a reservation, The Terrace at Trump presents The Octagon – an eight-sided table that seats up to 10 guests with prime views. Bookings for this VIP table cost $1,800, exclusive of tax and gratuity, and include one magnum of Dom Perignon, one of The Terrace’s specialty cocktails, one extravagant seafood tower, and dedicated attention from a personal server.

The Terrace at Trump staff will be outfitted in stylish uniforms ideal for the chic outdoor environment. Designed by Chicago designer Nicholas Joseph, the uniforms for male staff members feature brown and blue gingham short-sleeve dress shirts with khaki trousers, while the women don stunning shirt dresses in a vibrant buttercup or khaki color.

Chef Fiddler’s special menu of sophisticated summer favorites presents a range of crowd-pleasing dishes– designed to be shared amongst a group or enjoyed individually. Highlights include three levels of decadent seafood towers offering oysters, king crab legs, lobster tails, and more; seasonally-inspired maki rolls filled with unique ingredient combinations such as the Fuji Shrimp with tempura shrimp, fuji apple, akami, otoro, soy caviar, mango and jalapeno dressing; globally-inspired tacos filled with slow-cooked locally-farmed meats, fresh fish, and bold garnishes; and a variety of seasonally-driven salads, sandwiches topped with housemade condiments, and other playful plates, such as Bottle Rocket Shrimp Cocktail, “Chic”En Lollipops, Wagyu Sliders, and a Garden “Salwich”.

Chef Kosikowski’s sweet temptations span the food and beverage menus this season, showcasing her modern interpretation of nostalgic summertime classics. Guests looking for an indulgent finish to their meal will have their choice of five desserts, which range from a Raspberry Ice Cream Bar with raspberry sorbet, white chocolate coating, and crunchy pearls to a Mandarin Vanilla Float with Goose Island Vanilla Soda and a side of Combier orange liquor, among others. As part of The Terrace’s “Liquid Kitchen” of hand-crafted cocktails, Chef Kosikowski will also offer four freeze pops in refreshingly sweet flavors of Strawberry Lemonade with limoncello, and strawberry jus; “El Corazon” with blood orange, pomegranate, and Patron Silver; Sangria Rouge with syrah and apple dice; and Passion Colada with toasted coconut and Cruzan rum.

In addition to Chef Kosikowski’s sweet sips, this year’s cocktail program on The Terrace showcases a signature Trump twist on classic recipes, with each of the seven elegant, Chicago-themed creations featuring freshly squeezed juices, housemade syrups, and exotic spirits – ideal for Chicago’s hot summer months. As a new feature for 2012, The Terrace has commissioned local artist Eric Bladholm to create thick custom blown-glass carafes with a decorative, functional handle for the Magnificent, a cocktail-for-two featuring Absolut Sweet Tea Vodka, white cranberry, sliced peaches, mint and a splash of elderflower. The Terrace at Trump also offers an extensive selection of wine, locally-produced brews, and craft spirits.
