TRUMP HOTEL COLLECTION EXTENDS ITS SALES PRESENCE IN LATIN AMERICA

Thierry Baurez Promoted to Global Director of Sales for Latin America; John A. Cardona Appointed Director of Sales and Marketing For Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower® Panama

PANAMA CITY, Panama – Oct. 15, 2012 – With plans for continued growth in the Latin American region, TRUMP HOTEL COLLECTION™ recently promoted Thierry Baurez to global director of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, John A. Cardona will serve as the new director of sales and marketing for Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower® Panama, the brand’s first foray into the region.  

“With the opening of Trump Panama and our recent acquisition of the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, TRUMP HOTEL COLLECTION understands the importance of the Latin American market,” said Jim Petrus, TRUMP HOTEL COLLECTION’s chief operating officer. “We have strategic plans to expand in the region, therefore having a dedicated representative for these markets is key to achieving our goals.”

Baurez was previously the director of sales and marketing at Trump Panama. In this new role, he will be representing the entire TRUMP HOTEL COLLECTION throughout Latin America and will focus on building more presence and brand awareness for the Collection in the region, specifically in transient and group markets.

Prior to his position at Trump Panama, Baurez held sales and marketing positions at several properties in Mexico including Casa Dorada Los Cabos, Camino Real Hotels & Resorts in Mexico City and Cancun, and Marquis Los Cabos. He has a tourism business management degree from Universidad Anahuac in Mexico; a leisure studies and hotel management degree from the University of Ottawa, Canada; and a master’s degree in international business from Macquarie University in Australia.

John A. Cardona

With nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality arena, Cardona joins the Trump Panama team as director of sales and marketing, where he will oversee the properties strategic marketing, promotions and public relations. Most recently, Cardona served as a consultant to several properties including Sunset Beach Marina & Resort in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. His previous experience also includes working with hotel brands such as Island Global Yachting in Dubai, Regent Hotel & Resorts in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; The Garrett Hotel Group in Burlington, Vt.; The Peninsula Hotel Group in Hong Kong; and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in Dallas. Cardona has a business degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
