TRUMP INTERNATIONAL HOTEL & TOWER® CHICAGO ILLUMINATES CHICAGO SKYLINE
CHICAGO (June 23, 2010) – Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago, already a prominent feature of downtown Chicago’s architectural landscape, will command around-the-clock attention when the building illuminates its massive spire for the first time on June 23. At 227 feet tall, the steel spire soars 1,392 feet in the air and will brighten the Chicago skyline with a radiance projecting more than 800 feet in any direction.
Installed mid-June, the spire lighting structure consists of eight, iW Reach Powercore fixtures, which are the first LED, high-performance exterior architectural floodlights manufactured by Philips. Offering unprecedented light projection, the fixtures represent the newest innovation of energy efficient lighting solutions for high-visibility projects. Each of the eight 290-watt fixtures has an output of over 10,000 lumens, and, when combined, operate from just two, 120 Volt 20 Amp circuits.

A regular nightly display of solid white lights will emit from the building’s spire, but the downtown Chicago hotel plans to coordinate additional color schemes to commemorate national holidays and other citywide celebrations. Upcoming color variations include red, white and blue lights from June 27 through July 11 in celebration of Independence Day; pink lights throughout October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month; orange lights on October 31 for Halloween; and red and green lights from November 20 through January 3 to celebrate the winter holidays. The system, which is capable of emitting any color on the visible spectrum and achieving various light show effects, utilizes an internal astrological clock that effectively manages the nightly illumination schedule.
The installation of the spire lighting represents the building’s final exterior enhancement and follows the opening of the River Walk in April 2010.
